Let’s begin!

WOKING

I travelled up to WOKING for my first ever BOOK SIGNING!

Now I’ll be real here – I didn’t get any nibbles, not even a look at BUT I attribute that to the heat and of course the FOOTBALL!

Ain’t no way I am coming up on top over the FA World Cup!

This hasn’t brought me down, it all adds to the experience of being a writer!

Despite the lack of turn out, my stay at The Lionsheard Bookshop was amazing. It’s a little gem which offers a lot to its community (A LOT of trading cards were sold!) and, according to my mum and sister, made the best drinks!

Also, Woking was FANTASTIC!

I had a bloody good time exploring the area and of course encountering the TRIPOD!! I also caught a glimpse of H G Well’s house!!

It’s fair to say this first trip to Woking will NOT be my last!

Side note, I had reached out to the GOAT that is Darren Shan for a bit of advice regarding book signings and here’s what he had to say –

‘Just relax, be yourself, and be nice to people. Don’t be too disappointed if you get a low turnout or even no one at all -- it happens to all of us when we’re starting out!’

You know, out of all the writers on this planet, I’m grateful I chose a GOOD ONE!!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking for a while now and I am here to announce that The Experience Series is going to go through a little bit of REBRANDING

Don’t worry, Wren isn’t going anywhere!

I am going to freshen up the covers, to give them more of an identity.

That’s not to say the current book cover of The Placement is lacking in any way, shape or form!

It’s a strong, beautiful piece (I may do exclusive prints in the future) however, being the way Wren is, the covers need to reflect that.

I have some ideas I want to bring, and I want to scale down the size of the book (from A4 to A5) so that it’ll fit comfortably on a shelf – I wasn’t aware how big it was going to be until I had my proof copy, and it was too late to change everything! (I’ll be real, couldn’t be stuffed!)

I’ve already contacted an artist and cannot wait to get started!

I’ll also be going over The Placement for a fine tuning.

There are some bits that need tightening up as pointed out by a couple of kind readers.

I won’t be publishing the new edition until NEXT YEAR. Most likely the same date when The Looming (Book 2) comes out, early 2027!!

I’ll keep the current edition of The Placement up until the END OF THE YEAR.

Who knows, it could be worth something once it’s gone!!

WYLD TALES

Last month, I came across a comic so… bizarre that I simply had to grab a copy. Here’s what I had to say on it –

Bella & BB @wyld_tales were NOT joking around when they promised ridiculous adventures of Strawberry and Carrot Wyld!

I had to read the comic TWICE to make sure I wasn’t the one tripping!!

The story jumps right into the action, of two farm girls digging into ‘magical moonshine’ and gets crazier and crazier!

I LOVED EVERY PAGE!!

It’s Funny, Messy, absolutely insane at points!

It felt something close to a pilot over on Adult Swim – one I’d happily watch over and over again!

My only problem is that I need to go grab #2!!

Thanks for the WYLD ride… sorry, couldn’t resist!

I look forward but also terrified to what else these girls will be getting up to in the future!

Also, huge shoutout to publisher @caulkheadcomics with continuous bangers and the support they give to their creators, these guys are certainly worth keeping an eye on!!
